I Got The Axe by Elevation Polish

Hello everyone! It is finally mid week and it seemed that the week has been crawling along so slowly. How about a swatch to spice things up? Here goes…

Today I have for you I Got The Axe by Elevation Polish from the Tools of the Trade collection, inspired by Lulu’s (the creator)favourite tools.

I Got The Axe was mentioned that it is a mix of green melon and lime. In my opinion it is like a yellowish green bordering on mustard creme base with subtle shimmer. Formula is a little on the thick side but did not deter the application. You are seeing 2 coats with topcoat.i got the axe by elevation polish(1)i got the axe by elevation polish(4)i got the axe by elevation polishi got the axe by elevation polish(5)i got the axe by elevation polish(2)i got the axe by elevation polish(3)

A unique at the same time unusual colour to own but I like it anyway.

Elevation Polish restocks every 7th and 22nd of the month at 9PM (CST) and 9AM (CST) respectively.

Rainbow Honey Swatch Spam

Hi everyone! If you have bought any Rainbow Honey polishes before you will know that they have one of the best well packaged polishes and professional promotional advertisement and pictures. Most of their collection has a unique theme and interesting mix of colours. I am a big sucker for packaging and that’s one of the main reason why I have so many untried Rainbow Honey polishes in my stash so I am going to show you some today.

Kitsune is from The Yokai Collection. Kitsune, the magical white fox, refers by the creator as a glorious nine-tailed creature: fiery, wise and absolutely gorgeous. Kitsune as a polish is a cream base with gold shimmers, flecks, red, brown and iridescent glitters. The formula was a little on the thick side so make sure you coat each layer as thin as possible if you intend to do a few coats. But this is quite opaque; it was almost a one coater for me, so two coats definitely going to cut it. It did dry a little gritty so topcoats are essential unless you want to leave it textured. This is 2 coats with topcoat.rainbow honey kitsunerainbow honey kitsune (1)

Oni is the other colour from the trio of The Yokia Collection. Oni, The Malevolent Wild Demon, described as wicked and hideous. Oni is a blackened base with golden and magenta flecks. The flecks definitely are duochrome that give off a greenish tint to it. Formula was thin but not runny and application was easy. This is 2 coats with topcoat. This is so gorgeous, far from being hideous of course.rainbow honey oni (1)rainbow honey oni (2)rainbow honey oni

Gilded Angel, from the The Holiday Collection, is a gold foil shimmer base with faint holo. I really like this matte but the formula didn’t allow me to keep it without topcoat. Formula was slightly thin which is alright but it did dry a little uneven. And it did leave a little of the shimmer residue on the fingers upon removal. Otherwise it is actually quite a pretty colour and it is with holo! This is 2 coats with topcoat.rainbow honey glided angelrainbow honey glided ange(1)

Pillars Of Creation, one of the duos set from the Cosmic Dawn Collection, is a gorgeous multichromatic shimmer that mainly flashes golden olive green. Formula on this was great, thin but application was easy. Very sparkly and pretty! Photos showing 2 coats and topcoat.rainbow honey pillars of creationrainbow honey pillars of creation(1)

In my desperate attempt to use my insanely huge stash of untried I did a skittles nails with all four of the polishes. Pinkie and Thumb: Kitsune, Index: Pillars Of Creation, Middle: Gilded Angel, Ring: Onirainbow honeyrainbow honey(1)

It is with no surprise that I really love Oni and Pillars Of Creation. I cannot refrain from liking that golden green in Pillars Of Creation and Oni is so vampy and edgy looking. The other surprise favourite is Kitsune. I really like how it looked against my skin tone but I must say that it didn’t translate well in my photos. It is way prettier in real life.

You can still find some of these colours over at Rainbow Honey Store, Mei Mei Signatures or check out these international stockist.

1940 by LACC

Happy weekend everyone! Christmas is nearing and I am feeling all very festive but I really need to get my Christmas present shopping done soon. Each year I kept telling myself I want to get a Christmas tree but never did. Unfortunately this year I am not getting it either, I am trying to tighten my spending a little. Having said that yesterday it was Black Friday sale, have you scored many great deals? I have done a little damage to my wallet but I am glad that I have been pretty good as compare to last year!

Today I am presenting to you 1940 by Lacc from the Fall/Winter 2013 Collection, a really apt colour for Fall. Lacc which stands for La Couleur Couture is a Vancouver company with their nail polishes manufactured in New York that are free of toxic ingredients like formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, DBP, camphor and toluene , vegan and cruelty free. It was also said on their website that each polish contains protective UV inhibitor to prevent brittle and yellow nails.

1940 is a gorgeous vampy oxblood colour with creamy formula. Consistency is really good on this one with fuss free application and no staining. All I needed was two coats for opacity. Topcoat was added.lacc1940lacc1940(1)lacc1940(2)lacc1940(3)

Of late I have been really loving oxblood colour and plus vampy shades have its place in my heart. 1940 is like the perfect Fall colours to wear and I love the fact that they are free of all kinds of toxic and it has UV inhibitor to protect the nails! Thumbs up!

You can buy find 1940 and many other gorgeous shades by Lacc at Mei Mei Signatures for SGD$18. Mei Mei Signatures ships internationally.

Kissie Pooh by Xoxo Nail Candy

Today’s post is going to swift because I am currently at the hair salon getting my hair coloured and writing up this blog post on-the-go. Haha.

Kissie Pooh by XOXO Nail Candy, a Mei Mei Signatures’ exclusive shade, is a sweet pink crème consisting of bright green, pink and yellow hex and square glitters. Application was pleasantly smooth and consistency couldn’t be greater. No fishing was required and I used 3 coats and 1 coat topcoat for the photos.kissiepoohkissiepooh1kissiepooh2kissiepooh3

This is my first time trying out XOXO Nail Candy and happy to report that I have nothing bad to say about this shade.

Kissie Pooh is exclusively available at Mei Mei Signatures and retailing at SGD$16.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Breast Cancer Awareness 2013 – Polish Us Pink

PolishUsPink-logo2013-500x500*picture credit to The Subtle Shimmer

Today’s post is about breast cancer awareness. Every year approximately 1.5 million people worldwide are diagnosed with breast cancer. In many countries like Singapore breast cancer is the number one killer among the types of cancer. Thankfully if detected early and with treatment the percentage of survival and cure will be greatly increased.

I will not go in to details about breast cancer. There is vast information you can obtain from the Internet or you can speak with your doctor to learn more about it.

As most of you know October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and the nail girls and I decided to do our little part to spread the awareness of breast cancer around by painting our nails in pink and post it on Instagram. The campaign, Polish Us Pink, was started last year and this year the lovely Susan from The Subtle Shimmer has initiated and hosted the campaign and even made a great logo (attached above) for us  to post. Thank you S! It is with great pleasure to be able to participate it for the first time this year and if any of you like to join in the fun be sure to post your pink mani on the Instagram with the hash tag #polishuspink and #bcamani2013. This is for the whole month of October so post as many as you like!

My first instalment for Polish Us Pink mani I used Jindie Nails’ Femme Fire and accented with Different Dimension’s Excelsior with pink studs on the ring finger. Femme Fire by Jindie Nails contains bright orange, red and yellow hex in different sizes suspended in a sweet pink creme and I think I used 2 to 3 coats for photos. Excelsior by Different Dimension is a gorgeous white shimmery base with subtle holo, I used 2 coats on the ring finger.bcc1bccbcc3bcc2

So ladies, do yourself a favour, self examine your “gals” once a while and go to a doctor immediately if you think you feel something. They are a part of you; let them stay healthy and beautiful.

Being healthy is a responsibility to your love ones! Take care and stay healthy!

Jindie Nails and Different Dimension can be found at some of these retailers:

Spring Dreaming Collection by Mckfresh Nail Attire

Today I am going to show you more Mckfresh Nail Attire polishes. I have 4 out of the 7 colours from the Spring Dreaming Collection. Not so much of a chatter today so I will just let the pictures do the talking.

First up, Lakeside Sunset. It is a pretty lavender purple with pink shimmers. The shimmers glow more visible under sunlight. Consistency was great and it applied well in 2 to 3 coats. Photos showing 2 coats with topcoat.lakesidesunsetlakesidesunset1lakesidesunset2lakesidesunset3

First Light is a neon orangey coral jelly. This reminds me of carrots! Formula was perfection and opaque in 3 coats. As neon is notorious for freaking out the camera, I had to adjust the settings to get it to show correctly on photos. It is no surprise that I love this! firstlightfirstlight1firstlight2

Splice Of Life is a vanilla creme with gold pinkish shimmers. Sadly I couldn’t get the shimmer to show on my photos but it is really pretty under the sun. As you may have guessed it this required at least 3 coats to get it even but for a pale creme the formula is great.spliceoflifespliceoflife1spliceoflife2

Lastly, Go Back To Sleep. A white creme base with black square, rectangular, rhombus hex glitters, white bar, hex, round and square glitters. There is a lot going on but I had no issue with application. This reminds me a lot of cookie and cream ice cream. The photos showing 2 coats with topcoat. gobacktosleepgobacktosleep1gobacktosleep2

There are many reasons why I have grown fonder of Mckfresh Nail Attire. To name a few, the colours are pretty, great formula and I love the wider brush (ala OPI pro wide) which leaves me with minimum clean up.

Mckfresh Nail Attire is available through Etsy or Mei Mei Signatures.

The Labyrinth Collection by Mckfresh Nail Attire

Today I am going to show you some Mckfresh Nail Attire swatches. Mckfresh Nail Attire is a 3 Free handmade Australian brand created by Kate Mckenzie. The first collection she put out was inspired by the 1980’s British-American fantasy film – The Labyrinth by Jim Henson. And I am going to show you 3 colours from this collection.

First up, Hoggle. It is a milky nude crelly base with gold, copper and orange hex and tiny red square glitters. Formula was very smooth and easy to apply but a little sheer. Due to the sheerness of the polish my slightly yellowish stained nails was peeking through. So you may consider using a nude basecoat with this. The photos showing 3 coats with topcoat.hogglehoggle1hoggle2

The Fireys is a vibrant orange jelly base with white, red and gold hex, square and bar glitters. I have no issue with 3 coats and one coat topcoat application and glitters distribution was even. Love!thefireysthefireys1thefireys2

Lastly, Toby is another nude crème base packed generously with white and red rectangular, hex, square and bar glitters. Consistency was great but I found myself needing to fish for the bigger glitters. I am on the fence with this one. I loved it in the bottle but not on my nails.tobytoby1toby2

All of these 3 have great formula. I really like Hoggle’s colour combo and The Fireys which is my favourite of the three as it compliments against my nails and skintone.

These can be found at Mckfresh Nail Attire or Mei Mei Signatures.

Princess Breath by Jindie Nails

I have tons of polishes from Jindie Nails and for some strange reason I have not been featuring much of it on our blog. So I will try to share more swatches of Jindie Nails from now on.

Princess Breath is a pale blue crème base with fuchsia, blue and green hex and round glitters. The formula is a little thin and some what streaky on the first coat but not horrible. I would suggest to coat the first coat with less glitters if you are going to paint three coats else it may appear bumpy and thick. The photos showing three coats with one coat of top coat.princessbreathprincessbreath1princessbreath3princessbreath2

I bought this at Mei Mei Signatures. You can also find Jindie Nails’ polishes at the following online retailers:

Two Fingered Salute By Butter London

Hiya! How has weekend been for everyone? I didn’t do much except that I had my hair cut and done yesterday. I think my hairdresser chopped my hair a little wee bit off, oops. But at least I feel lighter now.

Today I am featuring Two Fingered Salute by Button London. This colour has been on my lemming list for a long time and it was previously a Nordstrom exclusive colour. I had it in my Nordstrom shopping cart for the longest time but didn’t check out as I didn’t want to pay shipping charges for just one polish, that would be so not worth it. When it finally hit Singapore’s shore at Sephora I immediately jumped on it with a 10% off from my Sephora membership card. I even hastily bought a back up bottle.

It is a muted light green creme base with copper microglitters. Formula was good and opaque in two coats. If I’ll be honest I am a little disappointed with it, not because it is not pretty but it just didn’t seem to work against my skintone, kinda looked a little washed out. 😦
twofingeredsalutetwofingeredsalute1twofingeredsalute2

It is a pretty colour and the muted green with coppery glitters combo is unique but I am bummed that it is a little meh against my skintone.

You can purchase this at Sephora Singapore store or online at Nordstrom.

Lucky By Glam Polish

Happy National Day to everyone in Singapore! Today is our nation’s 48th birthday and this week is a pretty short week for us in Singapore as yesterday was another public holiday, Hari Raya Puasa. So it was only a three day work or school week for most. I took the whole week off and have been enjoying the break but it’s back to reality next week. Damn. :p

Anyhow I have for you Lucky by Glam Polish swatch to show you today. Lucky is a teal creme base with green, turquoise and beige round glitters in various sizes. I actually swatched this before on its own but wasn’t happy how it turned out. So I re-swatched it over a matching base. The formula was a little thin but it wasn’t difficult to get the bigger round glitters out. I painted two thin coats over two thin coat of Etude House GR601 and one coat of top coat.luckylucky1lucky2

I am happy how this turned out over a matching base, not too crazy on its own, maybe it’s just me being a little anal. Overall like!

You can purchase Lucky at Glam Polish or at Mei Mei Signatures.
